Yesterday some of the team had the opportunity to visit Sharp’s Showroom and have some more hands-on training and demos. We saw all the latest MFD range, Big Pads, AV Solutions and of course their Visitor Management System.

The Visitor Management System should really be called “digital sign-in that ensures health and safety compliance” but it hasn’t got the same ring to it.

VMS are much more than just signing visitors in and out of the business. Did you know, you can set up a “geo-location” using a VMS that allows employees to be registered in the building without them having to do a thing. They simply need an app on their phone and as soon as the phone enters the geo-location, that employee will be registered as in the building. This is such an amazing feature as if there was a fire in the building, the admins can log on and see who is still in the building. You can also send text messages to everyone, including visitors, to explain where the fire assembly points are and more. 

Furthermore, from one kiosk (see picture above) you can actually give contractors permission to access it to manage their own team so that they too can ensure their team know all of the rules and procedures at the site they’re working on. 

Back to visitors though- when we arrived at Sharp we went up to the kiosk, entered our name, took a photo and a badge was printed for us. A message then came up on the screen saying someone would be down to collect us soon. The VMS actually emailed and sent an SMS to our host at Sharp with a photo of us to alert them that we had arrived. The photo feature is particularly useful as in a reception area that could have 20 people in it, your host knows exactly who to look for.

The whole process was so quick, hassle free and ensures that everyone in the building is accounted for in the event of a fire or fire drill.
